The Australian-based company, Agscent, emerged as the winner of the Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024 in Rockhampton. This highly competitive event attracted a record number of applicants and offered entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their beef-focused business concepts or new products to a large audience of beef stakeholders and consumers in the Southern Hemisphere.
Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, Managing Director and Founder of Agscent, captivated the panel with her company’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology to create groundbreaking breath-sensing devices. These devices are poised to transform methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.
The inspiration for Agscent came from Dr. Darlington’s realization of the potential behind breath diagnostics technology originally developed for humans. By adapting this technology to her family’s large cattle and sheep property in rural New South Wales, she has set the stage for a new wave of advancements in the agricultural industry.
Jess Webb, Beef Australia Board Director, praised Dr. Darlington for her groundbreaking work, noting that she is “shifting the dial” in the industry.
