In April 2023, Newlab at Michigan Central officially opened its doors in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood, next to the Ford train station. This innovative space embodies the city’s story of revitalization and transformation. Originally constructed from the remains of a crumbling book depository, Newlab is now home to 90 startups operating in various industries, from EV off-road vehicles to smart wheels designed for warehouse logistics. The facility aims to help entrepreneurs reduce the development cycle time for their products, according to CEO Cameron Lawrence.
