Chef Alvin Harvey, a renowned Jacksonville chef, has passed away at the age of 72. He was celebrated for his generosity and commitment to serving those in need. On Wednesday, March 27, a funeral service will be held for him at Julington Baptist Church on Snyder Street.

Harvey’s giving spirit went beyond Jacksonville as he traveled to Louisiana in 2005 to provide meals for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. He believed that helping others and understanding their struggles were crucial, stating “If I reach down to pull you up I want to feel your pain because we are all just one paycheck away from being homeless.”

Harvey is survived by his wife Nancy, two daughters, and two sons. His legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew him. Copyright 2024 by WJXT News4JAX – All rights reserved.
