Record-Breaking $25 Million Donation Propels Mays Business School to Top National Rankings

On Friday, the Mays Business School in College Station, Texas received its largest single donation in history, totaling $25 million. The generous contribution came from the Mays Family Foundation, which has played a pivotal role in the school’s development alongside its namesake, Lowry Mays.

The significant donation will kickstart new construction for a building that will support expanded graduate programs, accommodate increasing enrollment, and enhance existing programs. The goal is to propel the school to the top of national rankings, positioning it as a leader in business education.

During the announcement of the donation, Mays Dean Nate Sharp emphasized the importance of having the best students, staff, faculty, and alumni to rise to the top. The support of the Mays Family Foundation and Lowry Mays will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the business school.

Lowry Mays’ daughter, Kathy Mays Johnson, and her daughter were present at the event to present the donation. Their commitment to Texas A&M and the Mays Business School was met with multiple standing ovations, underscoring the impact of their family’s contributions.

Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp and Texas A&M Foundation President Tyson Voelkel also attended the event, praising Lowry Mays’ philanthropy and vision for the future of the business school. Together, the Mays family has now donated a total of $72 million to Texas A&M, solidifying their legacy as key supporters of higher education.
