Turbulence can be a frightening experience for passengers, as seen on a recent flight from London to Singapore where one person died and many were injured. In order to rank the shakiest airline routes around the world for 2023, Turbli, a turbulence tracking site, analyzed weather data based on average eddy dissipation rates (EDR). An EDR of 15 is considered light while 45 is considered severe. Larger aircraft are less likely to be affected by turbulence at a certain level. If a route has an average EDR of 15, passengers can expect some shaking at the least. Most of the ranked journeys either fly over or near mountain ranges, which can worsen turbulence.
