Rallying around Uptown’s beloved Anna Maria Pasteria after devastating car crash”.

The community of Uptown is rallying around a local restaurant that was severely damaged after a driver crashed into its facade on Sunday night. The incident happened at Anna Maria Pasteria on North Clark Street when a 27-year-old man ran a red light, collided with another car, and crashed into the restaurant, causing extensive damage to the interior.

The crash resulted in broken windows, destroyed furniture and other items. Fortunately, no one else was injured during the incident. However, the repair costs are high and the restaurant’s six employees are currently out of work.

In response to this tragedy, the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the expenses of restoring the restaurant and supporting its workers. The goal of the fundraiser is set at $20,000 to assist with repairs not covered by insurance.

Owner Anna Spinelli expressed her reluctance to ask for help but emphasized the extent of the damage caused by the crash. In order to reopen as soon as possible, Anna Maria Pasteria will need new signs, windows, flooring, furniture and other repairs.

Anna Maria Pasteria has been a cherished establishment in Uptown since it was opened by sisters Anna and Maria Spinelli in 1989. The sisters built a loyal customer base in Uptown and have been serving their patrons for decades. Despite this setback, Spinelli remains hopeful that her restaurant will reopen soon and continue to serve its customers with great food and warm hospitality.
