Rafael company officials recently held a meeting with the Greek Air Force to present the “Spider” air defense system. The focus of the meeting was on Rafael’s advanced air defense solutions against various threats, including drones, airplanes, helicopters, and long-range ballistic missiles.
The Spider system is an all-in-one configuration that combines radar, electro-optical payload, command and control system, and interceptors on a single vehicle for optimal air defense. In recent tests conducted in Israel, the Spider system successfully intercepted a UAV in challenging operational scenarios.
Turkey is currently strengthening ties with the Biden administration and is expected to purchase F-16 aircraft and upgrade packages from the US. While Turkey was excluded from the F-35 project due to its purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia, Turkey’s acquisition of F-16 aircraft presents a potential threat to Greece.
In addition to Turkey’s advanced drone manufacturing industry, conflicts such as the war between Russia and Ukraine have increased demand for drones like Bayraktar TB2. The Rafael company continues to innovate and adapt its air defense systems to address evolving threats and provide comprehensive defense solutions.
The meeting in Athens highlights the importance of strategic defense partnerships in safeguarding national security interests.
