The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), founded by China and Russia in 2001, serves as an international political, economic, security, and defense organization. Besides China and Russia, the organization includes countries such as India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Turkey is not a member but often participates in the organization’s meetings as a “dialogue partner.”

During the upcoming summit in Astana, Putin will engage with key leaders from the region to discuss critical issues affecting the member countries.
