Putin Set to Meet Xi and Erdogan at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Astana: Strengthening Relationships and Promoting Dialogue

Putin to Meet With Xi, Erdogan at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Astana.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to have talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. The news comes from Russia’s TASS news agency. This will be Putin’s first foreign trip since beginning his fifth presidential term.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), founded by China and Russia in 2001, serves as an international political, economic, security, and defense organization. Besides China and Russia, the organization includes countries such as India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Turkey is not a member but often participates in the organization’s meetings as a “dialogue partner.”

During the upcoming summit in Astana, Putin will engage with key leaders from the region to discuss critical issues affecting the member countries. The cooperation within the SCO demonstrates a commitment to fostering ties and addressing common challenges across borders. Putin’s meetings with Xi and Erdogan are expected to strengthen relationships among participating nations and promote dialogue for peaceful resolution of conflicts.
