Venezuelans in Argentina seek help from Pope Francis

Pope Francis has been asked for help by Venezuelans living in Argentina to ensure that all Venezuelans abroad have the right to vote in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for July 28th. They sent a letter to the Vatican through the Jesuit Migrant Service, expressing gratitude for the pope’s efforts and calling for the human and constitutional rights of Venezuelans to be respected.

The appeal aims to put pressure on Maduro’s government to fulfill electoral commitments and recognize the rights of Venezuelans. The electoral situation in Venezuela is tense, with reports of pressure and persecution of opponents. While around 220 thousand Venezuelans reside in Argentina, only 2.2 thousand are currently able to vote at the Venezuelan consulate in Buenos Aires.
