The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a setback on Friday as two of their key players were placed on the injured list due to lower body injuries sustained in Thursday’s game against the Miami Marlins. Bryce Harper, who was recently named an All-Star starter, experienced a hamstring issue while running to first base during the final moments of the game. Similarly, designated hitter Kyle Schwarber felt groin soreness while making a throw during his outfield appearance. Both players underwent imaging which confirmed strains.
In response to these injuries, the Phillies activated infielder Kody Clemens from his rehab assignment and called up outfielder Johan Rojas from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Harper, who has had an impressive season with a batting average of .303 and 20 home runs, faces uncertainty regarding his participation in the upcoming All-Star Game. Schwarber, on the other hand, has contributed 17 home runs and a batting average of .250, with his status still unclear.
The Phillies are missing key players such as catcher J.T. Realmuto and pitchers Taijuan Walker and Spencer Turnbull due to injuries. Despite these setbacks, the team will continue their series against the Marlins and work towards maintaining their strong performance in the season.
