On Monday, the PGA Tour announced that Patrick Cantlay had withdrawn from this week’s John Deere Classic. The reason for his withdrawal was not provided, but Russell Knox will be taking his place in the field. Cantlay was originally listed in the full field for Friday, marking his tournament debut at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Despite being ranked No. 8 in the world, Cantlay has not won a Tour event since August 2022. However, he did tie for third at the U.S. Open and tied for fifth at the Travelers Championship in his two most recent starts.
In addition to Cantlay’s withdrawal, the Tour also announced other field changes. Taylor Montgomery and Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis are no longer participating, while Marty Dou and Cody Gribble will now be competing in the event.
