Pettit National Ice Center Hosts Long Track Speed Skating World Cup: Fans Get Up Close and Personal with Jordan Stolz and other Top Skaters

Milwaukee’s Pettit National Ice Center is set to host the Long Track Speed Skating World Cup from January 31 to February 2, 2025. This event marks the fourth stop of the World Cup season series and will provide a unique opportunity for fans to witness some of the world’s best speed skaters in action.

Jordan Stolz, a 20-year-old World Record holder in the 1,000 meters and six-time World Champion, will be among those participating in various events such as the 500 meters, 1,000 meters, 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters for women and 5,000 meters for men. There will also be a mass start race, team pursuit and team sprint.

Paul Golomski, General Manager of Pettit National Ice Center expressed excitement about hosting this event just one year before the 2026 Winter Olympics. Bob Corby, Stolz’s coach emphasized how significant it was for both Jordan and the Milwaukee community as it allows him to compete at his home rink in front of his home crowd.

The US Speedskating Executive Director Ted Morris highlighted Wisconsin’s strong speed skating legacy and the success of athletes like Jordan Stolz as reasons to bring the World Cup back to Milwaukee. The Pettit National Ice Center has been Stolz’s training center and has hosted significant events in the past including the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trials in both 2018 and 2022.

This upcoming World Cup event is sure to be an unforgettable experience for fans of long track speed skating as they witness some of the world’s best athletes competing on one of Wisconsin’s most iconic ice rinks.
