Passover’s Healthy Diet: Navigating the Nutritional Challenges of the Holiday

During Passover, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and make smart food choices. A glass of dry wine contains around 120 calories, while a glass of sweet wine has about 162 calories, and grape juice also has approximately 160 calories. To avoid overindulgence, it is recommended to consume these beverages in moderation.

According to Auerbach, it is essential to follow a series of nutritional recommendations during the holiday season. Firstly, individuals should not break the diet and should only eat holiday foods in a controlled manner. Secondly, it is crucial to reduce the consumption of matzahs and not treat them as an essential addition to the meal.

To stay hydrated, individuals should drink at least seven to eight glasses of water or dietary fluids every day. Snacking between meals should also be avoided, especially on Passover sweets. Choosing rosé wine over sweet red wine is suggested instead of consuming high-energy foods that may negatively impact health and well-being during the holiday season.

When eating meat meals, individuals are advised to avoid fried foods and opt for low-fat fish such as mackerel, salmon, sole, and tuna instead of high-fat fish like tilapia, Nile princess, and trout. Choosing a carp weighing up to 300 grams is another option for those who prefer lighter fish with a lower fat content. Additionally, adding carbohydrates like cooked vegetables to soup is discouraged except when necessary due to taste preferences or cultural traditions.

Finally, limiting indulgent meals during the holiday period is crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle during this festive time. Outdoor family activities or sports can also be enjoyed on suitable days instead of spending all day indoors feasting on heavy foods.

In conclusion, following these guidelines promotes healthy eating habits during Passover by emphasizing moderation, hydration
