Oracle Corp.’s $65 Million Incentive: How Nashville Won the Battle for Oracle’s New Headquarters

In 2021, Oracle Corp. received $65 million in state incentives from the state of Tennessee to establish its new headquarters in Nashville. The company’s decision to move from its headquarters in Redwood City, California, to Texas was prompted by Ellison’s desire to bring his company closer to the heart of the U.S. health care industry. Nashville, with its strong presence in the health care sector and vibrant culture, was an ideal choice for Oracle’s new location.

The city of Nashville has over 900 health care companies and 550,000 employees in the sector, making it a perfect fit for Oracle’s expansion plans. According to Ellison, the city’s appeal as a place to live and raise a family was one of the key factors that led Oracle to choose Nashville for its new headquarters. The company will construct a massive campus with 1.2 million square feet of office space on the riverfront.

Oracle’s investment in Nashville includes plans for a community clinic, a concert venue, a hotel, and a restaurant on site. The company paid $254 million for 60 acres in downtown Nashville and proposed $175 million for public infrastructure improvements. Ellison’s vision for the new campus reflects Oracle’s commitment to Nashville and its growing health care industry.
