Oklahoma’s Tragedy Takes Center Stage as Barge Collides with Bridge Pillar

In Oklahoma, just four days after a cargo ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, resulting in the deaths of six people, another incident of a similar nature occurred. This Saturday, a barge collided with one of the concrete pillars of a bridge spanning the Arkansas River in Oklahoma. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries on the road or on the barge, but the State Patrol closed South Highway 59 as a precaution and diverted traffic from the area.

In Maryland, engineers were working to lift a twisted steel section of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge after it fell into the Patapsco River. The collapse occurred when the freighter ‘Dali’ lost propulsion and collided with the bridge, resulting in its collapse. Two people were rescued, but tragically, six others lost their lives in the incident. The crew of the container ship issued an emergency warning before the collision, which allowed traffic on the bridge to be halted and potentially prevented further casualties. The ship’s operator, Singaporean company Synergy Group, confirmed that none of the 22 crew members were injured in the incident.
