Wheeling Park Greater College senior Jenna Cecconi was left virtually speechless when approached by a visitor to the “Celebration of the Arts” occasion Thursday evening at the college.
“Is that your painting – that 1 in the corner in the frame?” he asked her. She told him the painting – 1 depicting a fire in the woods – was hers.
“I would take that dwelling with me appropriate now,” the man added as he congratulated her on her operate.
Students from all via Ohio County Schools showed off their artwork as aspect of the “Celebration of the Arts,” and Cecconi’s efforts had been amongst these in the senior showcase section.

Cecconi described she started drawing when she was in elementary college, and has sought to take an art class each and every year due to the truth then. Surprisingly, she does not plan to massive in art when she moves on to West Virginia University subsequent year, but rather in theater.

WPHS art teacher Russ Schultz acknowledged that also often ideal now the arts take a back seat as quite a few college districts alternatively concentrate on math and science efforts.

Senior Amanda Walker worked on a sculpture of character she described is meant to allow young people today right now deal with “high college drama.” She noted that a lot of her art is inspired by “the tougher things in life.”

Walker has plans to massive in inventive arts therapy at West Liberty University.
