Despite the recent 2024 NBA draft, Notre Dame alumni had a successful off-season. While no former Notre Dame players were selected in the draft, one player, Cormac Ryan, agreed to a short-term contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Ryan, who transferred to Notre Dame from Stanford, made a name for himself during his time at the school with his solid performance. After four years at Notre Dame, Ryan’s impressive stats included an average of 10.5 points per game over 31.2 minutes. In addition to his time at Notre Dame, Ryan also had success at North Carolina Tar Heels last season where he averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 35.5% from three-point range.
One of Ryan’s standout performances last season was when he scored 31 points in a road win over Duke while hitting six three-pointers in the process. The signing with the Thunder marks a new chapter in Ryan’s career and fans are eager to see what he will bring to the team. Although not hearing his name called in the draft may have been disappointing, Ryan’s determination and talent have earned him an opportunity to play in the NBA with Oklahoma City Thunder
