Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley, 18, is facing a setback with a broken metatarsal that will keep him out of action for approximately 12 weeks. Despite having an impressive season with the club in the Premier League, making 17 appearances, Miley’s injury means he is likely to miss the start of the upcoming league season. To make matters worse, he had also suffered a back injury towards the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
With just under seven weeks until Newcastle’s first league game against Southampton on August 17th, Miley will be unable to participate in any pre-season training sessions or matches, including the upcoming tour of Japan in July. Despite his young age, Miley has already gained experience playing in high-stakes matches, having featured in three Champions League games last season and scoring a goal in the Premier League.
Now Miley will have to focus on his recovery and rehabilitation in order to return to action as soon as possible. The talented midfielder will be disappointed at missing out on what would have been his second season with Newcastle United but he knows he has to put his health first and come back stronger than ever before.
