In 2023, the Jerry Stackhouse era came to an end after he spent a few years as the head coach at Vanderbilt. During his time there, he compiled a 70-92 record and failed to make any NCAA Tournament appearances. However, it didn’t take long for him to find a new opportunity in the professional ranks.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Stackhouse is set to join Steve Kerr’s coaching staff with the Golden State Warriors. He will be one of two assistants hired by Kerr for the upcoming season, alongside Terry Stotts who will serve as the lead assistant coach. The Warriors had to fill two vacancies on their coaching staff this offseason, and Stackhouse was selected to join the team.
Prior to his time at Vanderbilt, Stackhouse had coaching experience with the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies under J.B. Bickerstaff. Before transitioning into coaching, he had a successful NBA career after playing college basketball at North Carolina. He was a two-time All-Star during his playing days and retired from the NBA in 2013.
Now that he is looking forward to his new role with the Golden State Warriors under head coach Steve Kerr, Stackhouse says he is excited about what lies ahead for him on the court and off of it.
