New $4.3 Million Boost for Erie County Community Health Center: Improving Access to Comprehensive Health Services

The Erie County Health Department has received $4,334,730 in funding for the Erie County Community Health Center, which is the only comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center in the tri-county area of Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties. This funding, provided by the Health Resources and Services Agency (HRSA), will support primary care, dental, and mental health services offered at the Health Center’s eight sites throughout the region.

The Erie County Health Department/Erie County Community Health Center is among 160 programs nationwide that have received funding through the Service Area Competition. The three-year funding period will run from June 2024 to May 2027.

Federally Qualified Health Centers play a crucial role in public health infrastructure by ensuring continued access to high-quality primary health care services for underserved communities. This funding will help improve the health and well-being of residents in Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties, according to Erie County Health Commissioner Pete Schade.

The HRSA’s Health Center Program supports nonprofit organizations that provide primary health care services to medically underserved populations. For more information about the Erie County Health Department or Health Center services, visit www.ErieCoHealthOhio.com.
