The NASCAR Xfinity Series will make a return to the bustling streets of Chicago on Saturday with an improved weather forecast compared to last year’s rain-shortened event. A season-high nine drivers are set to compete in both the Xfinity and Cup races this weekend, including former champions Kyle Larson and Joey Logano, as well as last year’s Cup race winner at Chicago, Shane van Gisbergen. Cole Custer, the defending champion of the race on the streets of Chicago, is back to defend his title.
The NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will be racing on a 2.2-mile course that weaves through some of Chicago’s most historic attractions. The Xfinity Chicago Street Race is set to start at 3:40 p.m. Eastern Time, with the command to start engines at 3:28 p.m. Pre-race activities include practice beginning at 10 a.m., qualifying at 11 a.m., driver introductions at 3 p.m., the invocation at 3:20 p.m., and the national anthem performed by Aryn Bohannon at 3:21 p.m.
The race will consist of 50 laps (110 miles) on the 2.2-mile street course, with Stage 1 ending at Lap 15 and Stage 2 ending at Lap 30
