In the aftermath of a knife attack at a private European Championship party in Wolmirstedt, it has been confirmed that the perpetrator was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A toxicological report ruled out any substances in his system, and nearly 20 days later, the investigation into why the situation escalated and what motivated the attacker to target innocent football fans is still ongoing.
The attack began with an argument between the perpetrator and a fellow countryman, resulting in the fatal injury of the latter. The perpetrator then proceeded to stab three other individuals at a private EM-Public-Viewing event, leaving two people seriously injured and one with minor injuries. Upon police arrival, the perpetrator confronted officers with a knife and was subsequently shot and killed.
Despite initial reports suggesting that religious beliefs may have played a role in the attack, authorities have now disclosed that there was no evidence to support this claim. The toxicological report following the autopsy of the 27-year-old Afghan revealed no traces of alcohol, drugs, or medication in his system.
