Preston Memorial Hospital’s Annual Newberg Health Fair Brings Community Together

Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital recently hosted its annual health fair in Newberg, West Virginia. The event provided free and low-cost health screenings and education to the community. Since 2003, the health fair has been a part of the hospital’s community outreach programs and is co-hosted by the Newberg Rotary Club. A portion of the proceeds from the health fair supports the Newberg Rotary Club and their projects throughout the year.

The health fair was organized by staff from Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Trauma, and Primary Care – Fellowsville, along with the Newberg Rotary Club, Newberg Senior Center, and ten other healthcare and community agencies. The event offered low-cost blood screenings, free vision screenings, and free blood pressure screenings, as well as educational resources on various health topics such as organ donation, stroke and heart attack symptoms, substance use prevention, respiratory care, and more.

Chief Administrative Officer Melissa Lockwood expressed her satisfaction with the event stating that it is an important step in furthering Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s mission of enhancing the health of communities they serve. She emphasized that it is crucial for hospitals to partner with local organizations to educate people about healthcare access while expanding opportunities for better health outcomes in rural areas.
