Minnesota Breweries Shine at World Beer Cup: Local Brewers Take Home Multiple Awards in Competition Hailed as the Olympics of Beer

This year’s World Beer Cup took place in Las Vegas and showcased the talent and creativity of brewers from around the globe. Among the winners from Minnesota were Big Lake’s Lupelin Brewing, who received a silver medal for their Dortmunder beer, which was praised as a nearly perfect example of a German-style Oktoberfest lager. With over 9,000 entries in 110 categories, the competition is often referred to as the Olympics of beer. Winning a medal at the World Beer Cup is a highly prestigious achievement in the brewing industry.

Also from Minnesota, Bent Paddle of Duluth and Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub of Minneapolis both took home gold medals. Excelsior also received a silver medal for their fruit beer, while BeerClub of Mora and Pryes Brewing of Minneapolis won bronze medals. These awards highlight the exceptional quality of craft beer produced in Minnesota.

Executive Director of the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, Jess Talley, commented on the success of Minnesota breweries at the World Beer Cup, stating that it reinforces the fact that some of the best beer in the world is being made by local brewers in communities across the state. The awards not only showcase the talent and creativity of these brewers but also highlight the exceptional quality of craft beer produced in Minnesota.
