In the past 28 days, there have been 10 reported carjackings across the city of Minneapolis, according to the City’s Crime Dashboard. This year, there have been 76 reported carjackings so far, which is a decrease of more than 20% compared to the same time last year. Three suspects, including a woman and two teenage girls, were arrested in connection with one of these carjackings.
The incident occurred on a typical day when three suspects approached the victim as she was closing up her business. They proceeded to punch and kick her before stealing her vehicle. The robbery led to a brief police chase, with the suspects eventually being arrested near Clinton Avenue and East 45th Street in the Regina neighborhood.
According to police, all three suspects are aged between 14 and 18 years old and have a history of violent criminal activity. They are linked to at least 20 crimes in the past four years, including stolen property, car theft, and aggravated robbery. Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that law enforcement will continue to arrest those who commit such crimes, regardless of their age or past arrest record.
