If AC Milan were to secure Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea this summer, it would mean that they would have to forego the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that bringing in both strikers, as well as other targeted players for different areas of the squad, would not be feasible for Milan.
Milan has initiated discussions with Lukaku’s agent and Chelsea regarding the possibility of a loan deal. Lukaku has previously had loan spells in Serie A with Inter and Roma after signing for Chelsea. Despite Enzo Maresca taking charge at Chelsea, there is no indication that the club plans to keep Lukaku, making a move elsewhere likely.
Lukaku impressed last season with Roma, scoring 21 goals across all competitions, but his future with the team remains uncertain due to financial constraints. However, Milan faces a dilemma as they do not have the resources to bring in both Lukaku and Zirkzee while only having a starting role available for one of them. Manager Paulo Fonseca would face the challenge of managing both players’ playing time and keeping them content within the squad.
