Midfielder Melanie Leupolz, who had an incredibly successful four-year stint at Chelsea, has decided to move on and join Real Madrid. During her time at Chelsea, Leupolz won a total of eight major trophies, including the Women’s Super League and the FA Cup in the most recent season. She made significant contributions to the team, playing in 11 league matches and starting nine of them.
Leupolz originally joined Chelsea from Bayern Munich in March 2020 and wasted no time making an impact. In her first season, she reached the Champions League final. Over the next three seasons, she added three more trophies to her collection before taking maternity leave and giving birth to her first child in October 2022. After returning to action in March 2023, she played in seven games for Chelsea.
In addition to her club success, Leupolz was also a key player for the German national team, representing her country in the Women’s World Cup. After retiring from international football following the tournament, Leupolz now looks forward to a new chapter in her career with Real Madrid.
