Michael Burton is a fullback who has been with the Broncos for one year, wearing No. 20. Before joining the Broncos, he was a fifth-round pick from Rutgers and played for the Detroit Lions. After two seasons with the Lions, Burton was waived and spent two years with the Chicago Bears. He attended the training camp of the New Orleans Saints in 2019 but did not make it to their 53-man roster. After a stint with the Washington Commanders, Burton returned to New Orleans before moving to the Kansas City Chiefs, helping them secure a victory in Super Bowl LVII.
Primarily used as a blocker, Burton has recorded 35 rushes for 71 yards and one touchdown, as well as 21 receptions for 131 yards and one score throughout his career. When he joined the Broncos last spring, he signed a one-year contract and served as the team’s fullback, making significant contributions to special teams in 2023. This spring, he re-signed on another one-year deal. Currently, Burton is the only true fullback on the team ahead of training camp barring any plans to convert tight end/fullback Nate Adkins to a full-time role.
