The Mall of America in Bloomington will be implementing facial recognition technology as part of their security systems. The cutting-edge Corsight system will be used to quickly identify individuals of interest, including those suspected of trespassing, posing a threat or endangered or missing people.
The size of the mall makes it challenging for security officers to be everywhere at once. By utilizing this technology, the mall hopes to keep both the property and its guests safe. If an individual is not identified as a match, no data will be stored, and none of the information will be retained. The system is designed to only focus on specific individuals and not infringe on the privacy of the general public at the mall.
