Lummus Technology recently announced that IndianOil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL) has chosen their cumene technology for a new unit in Paradip, India. This selection strengthens the relationship between Lummus and IOCL, marking their second recent cumene license in India. The new cumene unit is part of a petrochemical and polymers expansion project at IndianOil’s complex in Paradip.
Lummus’ scope of work for this project includes the technology license for the cumene technology, basic design engineering, proprietary catalyst, site services, advisory services, and training. IOCL has previously licensed multiple technologies from Lummus for complexes across India, including naphtha cracker, INDMAX FCC, and polypropylene technologies.
The cumene technology offered by Lummus will provide IndianOil with lower energy costs, operational efficiency, and exceptional product yield. This will help IOCL optimize their plant economics and support their growth initiatives. Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer for Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology, expressed excitement about continuing to work with IndianOil on this successful project and further building on their long-time relationship.
