Local School Scandal: Family-Owned Business Allegedly Using Taxpayer Money for Apparel Production in Violation of School Ethics Laws.

The family-owned business that runs College Achieve Public Schools in Asbury Park, New Jersey, has been accused of using taxpayer money to produce school apparel. According to an NJ Advance Media investigation conducted on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the husband-and-wife team who run the school allegedly used their own business to produce school apparel at taxpayer expense.

This behavior is a direct violation of New Jersey school ethics laws. Sources familiar with the school’s operations claim that officials used another closed store as an intermediary to conceal the work being done by the family-owned business. Invoices obtained by NJ Advance Media show that purchases totaling $143,274 were made between December 2021 and January 2024 in this manner.

Concerns have been raised about the school’s financial practices as a result of these findings.
