BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Geater Machining and Manufacturing of Buchanan County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
Geater Machining and Manufacturing is an exceptional small business that has been serving the aerospace, electronics, and high-tech industries for over 61 years. The company was founded in 1962 by Duane Geater and has continued to grow while staying true to its roots in Independence, Iowa.
Under the leadership of three generations of the Geater family, the company has built a reputation for producing precision machines and fabricated parts that are used in equipment all around the world. One of its most notable achievements is providing components for helicopter radios used by the Navy SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden.
