Lions counter 49ers’ offer sheet for Brock Wright

The Lions announced on Wednesday that they will be matching the restricted free agent offer sheet signed by tight end Brock Wright with the 49ers. This decision means that Wright will remain on their roster rather than leaving for their NFC Championship Game opponents. The deal is reportedly worth $12 million over three years, with $6 million guaranteed. This is a significant increase from the Lions’ original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million.

By choosing to match the offer, Wright will not have to adjust to a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2024 season. Over the past three seasons, he has played in 41 games for the Lions, accumulating 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. Wright will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee. This decision is expected to strengthen the Lions’ offense and give them a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
