Lexington female scientists discovery Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Living Arts &amp Science Center hosts a month-to-month Discovery Saturday with unique themes for every single month. For Women’s History Month the center spotlighted girls in science.

Roberta Burnes, an environmental education specialist with the Kentucky Division for Air High quality, was at the center to speak with little ones and full activities to teach them about the qualities of air.

“We’re going to be trapping air below the water, we’re going to be playing about with air stress and the strength of air, how it can hold factors up or hold factors collectively, utilizing air stress,” mentioned Burnes prior to her 1st demonstration. “We’re going to see if the little ones can pour air from 1 cup to yet another below the water and just sort of discover some of the unique hidden powers of air.”

There have been other activities that youngsters could discover at the center. 

Shannon Wampler-Collins, who handles neighborhood outreach for the science center, was thrilled about how several girls attended the occasion.

“I’ve noticed a lot of girls quite into the science factors which tends to make me quite pleased,” mentioned Wampler-Collins.

Fostering girls’ passion for science was a target for today’s occasion.
