The city of Las Vegas has been offering grants to businesses in order to enhance their security, with nearly $1 million already distributed. The Business Security Grant Program provides up to $10,000 to eligible businesses to help them secure their properties, covering expenses such as lighting, security cameras, locks and more.
Since the program began in March, over $750,000 has been awarded to 79 businesses in Las Vegas. Recipients like Chops Barbershop and 18bin have utilized the funding for various security enhancements, including new locks, lighting and camera systems to deter theft and improve public safety.
After a recent series of break-ins at local businesses, the importance of security measures has been highlighted. Tacotarian, a recipient of the grant used the funding to upgrade their camera system which proved useful in identifying the perpetrators of a recent break-in. However they acknowledge that cameras alone are not sufficient for complete security.
There is still approximately $250,000 in funding available for businesses within Las Vegas city limits that meet the eligibility criteria. Interested businesses can access the application for the grants through a provided link.
