On Friday morning, the Creative Learning Alliance officially unveiled the name of Joplin’s future science center: The Schroeder Family Exploreum. The title was chosen from among 64 potential options and was ultimately decided upon by the nonprofit’s board of directors.

The Schroeder Family Exploreum will be housed in the old Joplin Library building, which has been transformed into a hub for learning and exploration. The naming rights were made possible by a one-million dollar donation from local developer, Rick Schroeder.

Audie Dennis, the Creative Learning Alliance Board President, expressed gratitude for the support from the Schroeder family and the community. The organization has set a fundraising goal of $6.5 million, with $1.7 million already pledged. The Schroeder Family Exploreum is expected to open in 2025 and will provide an exciting new space for people of all ages to learn and explore science and technology.
