The Paul Simon Institute at SIU welcomes prominent business executive from Chicago

On April 11, 2024, Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute will welcome John W. Rogers Jr., a renowned Chicago business executive, for a “fireside conversation” with institute director John Shaw. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120, with a reception planned from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge. Registration is recommended but not required to attend the lecture.

Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, a pioneering asset management firm that has been managing nearly $15 billion in assets since its inception in 1983. Shaw expressed excitement about hearing about Rogers’ illustrious career and his contributions to the community. The conversation will focus on Ariel Investments’ groundbreaking concepts such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise, and bold teamwork. Additionally, Rogers will offer suggestions for SIU students preparing for their professional careers.

Rogers grew up in Hyde Park and earned his degree from Princeton University before launching Ariel Investments.
