JMU Football Bids Farewell to Several Key Departures as Portal Activity Continues

As the spring portal activity for JMU Football continues, the team is closely monitoring transfers and player movements. While there have been no transfer additions yet, several key departures have already been announced.

Tyrique Tucker, a defensive tackle who played in all 13 games in 2023 and was projected as a starter in 2024, has left the team with three years of eligibility left. Sammy Malignaggi, a backup running back and kick returner who saw limited playing time last season, has also departed the team due to transfer additions at running back. Solomon Vanhorse, a versatile player at returner and running back who was likely behind Ayo Adeyi and George Pettaway on the depth chart, has also left the program.

Collin Carroll, a tight end who redshirted in 2023 due to an injury, is leaving the program in search of more playing time. Wesley Bostic, an offensive lineman with three years of eligibility left as a reserve lineman, has also entered the transfer portal. The tight end room at JMU is crowded with players like Kyi Wright and Taylor Thompson leading the pack.
