Israeli Government Approves $5.4 Billion for Settlement Development on Gaza Strip Border

Recently, the Israeli government approved a program that will allocate 19 billion shekels over the next five years for the restoration and development of settlements on the border with the Gaza Strip. The program aims to transform the region into a hub for science and sports by expanding institutions like Sapir College and the southern “Wingate Institute.” Advanced agriculture using cutting-edge technologies will also be developed in the area, along with efforts to attract new residents and promote harmonious growth.

The government’s plan was developed in collaboration with local authorities and will involve them in its implementation, focusing on housing construction, infrastructure development, economic growth, tourism, and increased security measures. The goal is to create a thriving community that is sustainable and prosperous. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that this investment will focus on housing, infrastructure, education, employment, medicine, and more, with the aim of developing the area and defending the country from threats like Hamas.

Another 18 billion shekels will be allocated for similar purposes over the following five years. The government will prioritize employment opportunities and personal and state security in the region.
