Investigation into Near-Drowning Incident at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Waterpark in Queensbury, New York

In response to a near-drowning incident at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, New York, the New York State Department of Health is currently conducting an investigation. A 5-year-old girl from Hudson, New York was discovered unresponsive in the water at the waterpark over the weekend, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The young girl was quickly transported to an Albany hospital by Life Net and is currently in stable condition.

As per protocol, drowning incidents at regulated bathing facilities in New York are typically investigated by local health departments or state district offices. Monica Pomeroy, a public information officer with the state health department, confirmed via email that this specific incident is being looked into by the department’s Glens Falls District Office. However, as the investigation is ongoing, the department has refrained from providing further comments at this time.

Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark opened its doors in 2006 and is owned by Six Flags. In response to the emergency, West Glens Falls EMS, Queensbury Central Fire, and the New York State Police all assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration between these entities helped expedite the response to the incident at the waterpark.
