In 2022, Bexar County was ranked among the top three counties in the state for drug-poisoning related deaths. However, two years later, UT Health San Antonio introduced a new system for treating substance use disorder. This innovative approach does not rely on traditional 30-day treatment centers or extensive inpatient care. Instead, Be Well, Texas offers comprehensive care for substance use and mental health, both in-person and virtually, across the state, regardless of one’s ability to pay.
Dr. Jennifer Potter is the founding director of this new initiative and will be a key speaker at Texas Public Radio’s upcoming Think Science event. The event will focus on strategies for treating and combating substance use disorder. Join us in person for an engaging conversation moderated by TPR’s Nathan Cone with Dr. Potter and other experts from UT Health.
The event is scheduled for Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m., at the Pestana Lecture Hall on the campus of UT Health San Antonio located at 7703 Floyd Curl Drive. Make sure to reserve your spot for this free event at https://support.tpr.org/a/be-well
