Indian Boxers Secure Quotas for Paris 2024 Olympics at Bangkok Qualifier

In Bangkok, Sachin Siwach and Abhimanyu Loura had contrasting wins in the first two days of competition. While other Indian boxers, including Amit Panghal, Sanjeet, Narender, Jaismine Lamboria, and Arundhati Choudhary, received byes in the first round.

Dev appeared calm and in control throughout the bout, dominating his opponent with a flurry of punches early on. This continued into the second round, putting his opponent on the defensive. His solid performance in the third round secured a definitive victory for Dev.

India has already secured three Olympic boxing quotas for Paris 2024 through Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen, and Preeti Pawar. However, athlete participation in the Paris Games will ultimately depend on their National Olympic Committees choosing to select them for the delegation.

India has sent seven men and three women to the second World Olympic Qualifier in hopes of obtaining more quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics. At the Thailand meet, quotas are available in various weight divisions, with three in women’s 60kg, men’s 57kg, and men’s 80kg
