Oops: Houthis Attacked a Ship in the Red Sea, Only to Discover it was Headed to Iran

A ship owned by a Greek company and flying the flag of the Marshall Islands has arrived in Iran, a key ally of the Houthis. The ship, which was carrying corn and had set sail from Brazil, docked at Bandar Khomeini, one of Iran’s largest ports.

The Houthis reportedly fired two missiles at the ship, but it did not receive a direct hit and sustained only minor damage. There were no casualties. The owner of the ship is Star Bulk Carriers, a Greek shipping company. This incident follows on from the Houthis attacking another company ship in the Red Sea just a few days ago.

This marks the first time that the Houthis have targeted a ship bound for Iran since they began attacking international shipping in the Red Sea.
