During the opening ceremony of the 67th Wyoming Legislature, Beck Bridger, Miss Wyoming USA from Sheridan, sang the National Anthem. Ron Richter from Sheridan Media has all the details. In his State of the State Address, Governor Mark Gordon highlighted Wyoming’s strong economy and emphasized property tax relief. He pointed out that Wyoming’s gross domestic product is higher than ever before and unemployment is at its lowest since 2008.

Governor Gordon also addressed the impact of Biden Administration’s energy policies on Wyoming and the energy industry. Given that this is a Budget Session, he urged legislators to focus on their key task and pass his conservative budget proposal, which maintains flat spending when compared to 2021. He also emphasized the importance of addressing high property taxes in his proposed budget while being mindful of their potential impact on county resources, roads, and schools.

In addition to property tax relief, education, mental health, and border security were also discussed in Gordon’s address. We will have more coverage of his State of the State in future stories.
