Georges Mikautadze, who had a standout performance at EURO 2024, has permanently left Ajax. During the tournament, he was the only player to score in all three of his country’s group games before Georgia was eliminated by Spain in the last 16. The 23-year-old forward joined Ajax last summer in a reported €16m deal from Metz but returned to Metz in January after a disappointing six months in Amsterdam.
Despite his efforts not being enough to prevent Metz from being relegated, they have chosen to exercise their purchase clause on Mikautadze’s contract with Ajax. This means that Mikautadze will not remain in Ligue 2 as talks have advanced for him to be sold quickly in order to make a profit. It is expected that Monaco will finalize a move for Mikautadze, marking the end of his time with Ajax and the beginning of a new chapter in his career with potential opportunities abroad.
