In recent years, infielder Brennen Davis has struggled with injuries, and his latest setback may keep him out of action for a significant portion, if not all, of the season. He sustained a fractured back while playing for the Iowa Cubs and was placed on the injured list. Despite showing promise in previous seasons, injuries have limited Davis’s progress and impacted his performance.
During the 2021 season, Davis hit .260/.375/.494 with 19 home runs across three levels. He also impressed at the Futures Game that year, where he was named MVP for hitting two home runs. However, injuries began to plague him in 2022, with back surgery limiting him to just 52 games and a .597 OPS with 5 home runs. Despite this, he performed well in the Arizona Fall League later in the year.
Unfortunately, injuries continued to impact Davis in the following season. He hit just .201 with 5 home runs in 71 games, the majority of which were with Triple-A Iowa. However, in the current season, Davis seemed to be on the path to recovery, posting a 138 weighted runs created plus and a .933 OPS with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 36 games with Iowa.
The last time Davis played was on June 11, where he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. It remains uncertain when he will be able to return to the field
