From Classrooms to Labs: Inspiring Young Minds through Collaboration at Watertown’s Life Science Panel

On April 9, the fourth annual Watertown Business Coalition Life Science Panel took place at the Mosesian Center for the Arts. The event was organized by Watertown’s Merle Kummer and the group’s board, with a goal of inspiring student interest in STEM careers. The collaboration, known as CoLAB High School STEM Career Collaboration, is a nonprofit organization where local life science professionals and high school educators work together to build new levels of STEM self-confidence among students.

The panel featured experts from Addgene and Acrivon Therapeutics, as well as a Watertown High School Junior who shared his experience of having a real scientist as a mentor. The event was captured on video by Watertown Cable Access Television, allowing those who couldn’t attend to learn more about the important collaboration between the school system and local businesses.

The Watertown Business Coalition expressed pride in their partnership with life science professionals, emphasizing their commitment to mentoring students and nurturing future scientists. The Life Science Panel was a testament to the power of collaboration and how it can inspire young people to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
