From Bucknell to the NBA: New Charlotte Hornets Head Coach Charles Lee Looks to Build a Championship Culture

The Charlotte Hornets have announced the hiring of Charles Lee as their next head coach, becoming the 12th coach in franchise history. Lee is currently the top assistant with the Boston Celtics and has previously worked with the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. During his time with Boston, he helped the team achieve a 64-18 record, the best in the NBA and the fourth most wins in franchise history.

Before starting his NBA coaching career, Lee played college basketball at his home university of Bucknell for four years. He also had a successful professional career overseas, playing for four seasons. Lee expressed his excitement about joining the Hornets and working with the talented young core of players. He believes in the passion for basketball in the Carolinas and is eager to get to work in Charlotte.

The decision to hire Lee comes after former head coach Steve Clifford stepped down in early April. With Clifford’s departure, the Hornets have expressed their enthusiasm about bringing Lee on board. The team is looking forward to introducing Lee, his wife Lindsey, and his daughters to the Hornets community and partnering with him to build something special in the Carolinas.
