Accurate Science: The Moon

On Monday, March 25th, there was a lunar eclipse. Our intern, Alexandra, and her sister, Ariana, were out with their telescope to capture some pictures of the moon during the eclipse. The photos turned out so well that we used one in the thumbnail for this content. A big thanks to Ariana for her amazing photography skills!

It’s fascinating to think about how little we really know about the moon. The moon was formed from a collision around 4.5 billion years ago and is not the only moon in our solar system. Jeff St. Clair will provide more information on moons in the solar system later on.

Some discussion questions to consider:

1. What do you think the moon is made of?

2. Have you ever seen the moon during the day? If so, what did it look like?

3. If you could travel to the moon, what would you want to bring with you? Would you bring any special equipment or supplies?
