Farewell to Five Esteemed Boise State University Faculty and Staff Members: A Celebration of Their Dedication and Impact

Retirement Celebration for Faculty and Staff of the College of Health Sciences on April 9th

Boise State University’s College of Health Sciences is saying goodbye to five esteemed faculty and staff members who are retiring in the spring of 2024. These individuals have collectively dedicated many years of service to the university, leaving a lasting impact on the College and the university as a whole.

To celebrate their contributions, a retirement reception will be held on Tuesday, April 9 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Student Union’s Bishop Barnwell Room. The campus community is invited to join in honoring these individuals for their hard work and dedication to Boise State University.

Sarah Toevs has been a professor in the School of Public and Population Health and the director of the Center for the Study of Aging for 24 years. She has made significant contributions to her field and has been an inspiration to many students and colleagues alike.

Olgie Castillo has served as a management assistant in the Department of Kinesiology for 16 years, providing valuable support to faculty and staff members while also contributing to the department’s success. Shawn Dunnagan has been a lecturer III in the School of Public and Population Health for 13 years, teaching students about important public health issues while also conducting research on these topics. Tim Kempf, a clinical associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology, has dedicated 19 years to Boise State, mentoring students and conducting groundbreaking research on physical activity and health outcomes. Shelle Poole, divisional dean and clinical associate professor in the School of Nursing, has served for 13 years, leading her division with passion and dedication while also making significant contributions to nursing education at Boise State.

These retirees have left an indelible mark on Boise State University’s College of Health Sciences through their tireless work and commitment to excellence. We wish them all a fulfilling retirement filled with love, joy, and new adventures ahead!
